Meet Author Pam Ellis and Augie: Stories of Courage, Curiosity, and Kindness!
At Be Kind 5, we believe kindness is a superpower—and sometimes, it starts with being kind to yourself. That’s why we’re thrilled to spotlight Pamela K. Ellis, a Seattle-based writer whose children’s books about Augie teach kids confidence, resilience, and the importance of facing challenges with a brave heart.
Meet Pamela K. Ellis:
Pam grew up in Alaska, where adventure was part of everyday life. After 17 years immersed in ballet and a successful career as a mural painter and home stager, Pam turned her creative energy toward writing. Her stories draw from her own transformative journey and a deep curiosity about what’s around the next bend. Today, she’s inspiring children everywhere to embrace life with courage—and kindness.
The Augie Series: Two Tales of Growth and Heart
1. Augie’s Big Leap
Augie dreams of doing something big—but fear holds him back. In this heartwarming story, Augie learns that courage isn’t about being fearless; it’s about taking that first step. Along the way, he discovers that being kind to yourself when you make mistakes is just as important as being brave.
2. Augie Lost at the Zoo
When Augie gets separated from his family at the zoo, panic sets in. But with the help of new friends and a little self-kindness, Augie learns to stay calm, ask for help, and turn a scary moment into an adventure. This story reminds kids that kindness—toward others and yourself—can turn challenges into opportunities.
Why These Stories Matter
In a world where kids often feel pressure to be perfect, Augie’s adventures teach that kindness starts within. Pam’s books encourage children to:
• Be brave when facing fears.
• Be kind to themselves when things don’t go as planned.
• Be curious about the world and the people in it.
These lessons align beautifully with the Be Kind 5 pillars, especially mental health and giving back. When kids learn self-kindness, they’re better equipped to share kindness with others.
Where to Find Augie
