Kindness Warrior Spotlight: Camp Rosenbaum – Building Brighter Futures for Kids

For 56 years, Camp Rosenbaum has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for children from low-income housing communities across Oregon and Southwest Washington. This free, week-long overnight camp is more than just fun—it’s a life-changing experience that empowers kids ages 9–11 to dream big and make positive choices.

At Camp Rosenbaum, every day is rooted in values that shape good citizens:
Care. Share. Work together. Be loyal and fair. Be everywhere.

These principles guide everything we do as we encourage campers to:

  • Stay in school and pursue education

  • Avoid drugs and gangs

  • Make good decisions for themselves and their future

Because when kids believe in themselves, they can do anything.

  • Outdoor Adventures: Horseback riding, fishing, ocean exploration at Camp Rilea on the Oregon Coast.

  • Fire Dawgs & First Responders: Kids meet real-life heroes and learn about service.

  • Talent Show: A stage for courage and creativity.

Every moment is designed to show kids their potential and help them build confidence.

Community at Its Best

Camp Rosenbaum thrives because of incredible partnerships—with the Portland Police Bureau, Home Forward, the Oregon National Guard, and volunteers from law enforcement, housing agencies, and beyond. Our staff donates their time, and our Foundation works tirelessly to secure donations, grants, and fundraisers.

This is kindness in action: a community coming together to give kids hope, joy, and tools for success.
