Gratitude in Action: 5 Joyful Ways to Be Kind and Give Back
November is Gratitude Month—a time to pause, reflect, and celebrate the good in our lives. At Be Kind 5, we believe gratitude is more than a feeling—it's a way of living. Whether you're a teen, parent, educator, or community member, here are five fun and meaningful ways to practice gratitude and give back through our five pillars:
1. Mental Health: Create a Gratitude Wall
Start a family or classroom “Gratitude Wall” where everyone adds sticky notes with things they’re thankful for. It’s a simple way to boost mood, spark conversation, and remind us of the good—even on tough days.
2. Giving Back: Kindness Scavenger Hunt
Make giving fun with a kindness scavenger hunt! Include tasks like “compliment someone,” “donate an item,” or “help clean up.” Do it solo or as a group—each act is a ripple of kindness.
3. Earth Service: Thank the Planet
Spend time outdoors and show gratitude to nature. Pick up litter, plant something, or write a thank-you note to the Earth. Youth can create “Earth Gratitude Art” using natural materials—adults can join in too!
4. Physical Health: Move with Meaning
Celebrate your body with movement that feels good. Try a “Gratitude Walk” where you name things you're thankful for with each step, or host a dance party where every move is inspired by joy.
5. Financial Health: Share What You Can
Gratitude grows when we share. Youth can create “Kindness Kits” with small items to give away. Adults might donate to a cause or teach kids how to budget with giving in mind. Even small acts count.
Gratitude connects us—to ourselves, each other, and the world. This month, let’s celebrate by being kind, being thankful, and being part of something bigger. Together, we can make gratitude a way of life.
Be Kind 5 is so grateful for all of YOU!
