Meet Seattle GiveCamp: A Weekend of Tech, Heart, and Transformation
This past weekend, Be Kind 5 had the incredible honor of participating in Seattle GiveCamp 2025, a weekend-long event where tech professionals donate their time and talent to support nonprofits through custom-built software solutions. Hosted at Microsoft’s Redmond campus from October 17–19, this annual “hackathon for good” brought together developers, designers, project managers, and creatives to uplift mission-driven organizations—like ours.
What is Seattle GiveCamp?
Seattle GiveCamp is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a powerful mission: to provide pro bono technology solutions to Seattle-area nonprofits. Since its founding in 2011, GiveCamp has supported over 150 local charities, contributing nearly half a million dollars in volunteer development and design work each year. From websites and mobile apps to databases and branding, GiveCamp volunteers build tools that help nonprofits thrive. [seattlegivecamp.org]
The event is a whirlwind of collaboration, innovation, and heart. Over the course of three days, volunteers work side-by-side with nonprofit teams to understand their needs and deliver impactful tech solutions. It’s not just about coding—it’s about community.
Our Experience: A Fresh Vibe for Be Kind 5
For Be Kind 5, this weekend was transformative. A team of passionate and skilled volunteers took our vision and gave it a digital makeover. They redesigned our website, infused it with fresh energy, and helped us better communicate our five pillars of kindness: to our Mind, Neighbors, Planet, Body, and Wallet.
From the moment we arrived, we felt seen and supported. Our volunteer team listened deeply, asked thoughtful questions, and brought our ideas to life with creativity and care. The result? A vibrant, user-friendly website that truly reflects the heart of our mission. Our angels were Sharon Kumar, Brian M and Amy Weiher, truly a gift to receive their support and drive to create this new BK5 vibe!
