Wake Up Your Body: A Simple Morning Reset
Before the first class, practice, game, or meeting of the day, there is something every athlete has with them: their body.
Your body carries you through school, sports, friendships, and everything in between. Taking just a few minutes in the morning to move can be a simple way to wake up your muscles, connect with your breath, and get your mind ready to be present.
You don’t need equipment. You don’t need a full workout. You just need a few minutes.
Try this 5–7 minute morning reset:
🌱 1. Wake Up & Breathe — 1 minute
Stand tall with your feet grounded. Take three slow breaths. Reach your arms overhead as you inhale and lower them as you exhale.
Think: “I am here. I am ready for today.”
🌱 2. Roll It Out — 1 minute
Slowly roll your spine down toward the floor, then rebuild your spine one vertebra at a time. Don’t rush. Let your head and shoulders relax.
🌱 3. Wake Up Your Legs — 1 minute
Try 8–10 slow squats. Keep your feet grounded and move with control. Imagine your legs getting stronger and more awake with every repetition.
🌱 4. Move Your Spine — 1 minute
Come onto your hands and knees for a few gentle Cat-Cow movements. Let your spine move smoothly while you breathe.
🌱 5. Find Your Balance — 1 minute
Stand on one leg for 20–30 seconds, then switch. Keep your eyes focused on one spot. If you wobble, that’s okay!
Wobbling is part of learning balance and body awareness.
🌱 6. Finish With Movement — 1 minute
March in place, add gentle arm swings, or take a few easy side steps. Let your body gradually become more energized.
Then pause.
Take one more breath and ask yourself:
“How does my body feel today?”
That question is powerful.
Being a strong athlete isn’t only about speed, strength, or winning. It’s also about learning to listen to your body, move with control, and be present in the moment.
So tomorrow morning, before reaching for your phone or rushing out the door, give yourself a few minutes to move.
Wake up your body. Clear your mind. Start your day present.
Your body is part of your team—take care of it. ❤️
